Tujuh Dimensi Etos Kerja

Apakah Anda pernah bekerja dengan seseorang yang pintar dan berkemampuan tinggi tapi tidak dapat berbaur dengan Anda atau rekan lainnya di kantor dengan alasan “Kayaknya orang ini gak punya Work Ethic yang baik ya”? Sebenarnya apa itu work ethic? Dan, apa yang harus dimiliki seseorang dalam pekerjaannya sehingga dapat dinilai memiliki etos bekerja yang cukup?
Lingkungan pekerjaan saat ini tidak hanya serba cepat, tetapi juga sangat kompetitif. Agar suatu perusahaan atau instansi dapat mengimbangi hal tersebut dan tetap berada dalam posisi terdepan, perusahaan juga perlu berinvestasi pada tenaga Sumber Daya Manusia yang memiliki etos kerja yang baik. Selain dapat memberikan nilai tambah kepada perusahaan, SDM berkualitas yang memiliki etos kerja dapat menjadi nilai tambah untuk seseorang berpeluang dapat mencapai tingkat karir yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, etos kerja wajib dimiliki agar dapat menunjang kehidupan karir seseorang.
Berdasarkan Journal of Managerial Issues, 22 (1) yang ditulis oleh akademisi bernama Raymond K., dan rekannya, konsep “etos kerja” terus berubah-ubah dan berevolusi seiring berkembangnya zaman. Dari mulai pekerja yang penurut, loyal, disiplin, rajin ke kantor dan bekerja keras disebut sebagai orang yang punya etos kerja yang baik, hingga pekerja yang asalkan dapat menyelesaikan tugas dengan benar walaupun bekerja dapat dimana saja dan berkomunikasi dengan rekan serta atasan kerja dengan baik dapat disebut sebagai orang yang memiliki etos kerja yang juga baik. Di jurnal tersebut juga menyatakan bahwa terdapat tujuh dimensi etos kerja yang dapat dilihat sebagai penilaian, yaitu Self Reliance, Morality/Ethics, Leisure, Hard Work, Centrality of Work, Wasted Time, dan Delay of Gratification.
Self Reliance berbicara tentang bagaimana seseorang dapat bekerja secara independent dan mandiri. Seseorang yang memiliki Self Reliance yang tinggi dapat bekerja dengan bertanggungjawab dan tidak akan mudah bergantung pada orang lain. Morality/Ethics merupakan salah satu dimensi yang penting. Morality/Ethics berbicara tentang karakter, kebiasaan dan etika dengan lingkungan sosial di sekitar tempat ia bekerja. Yang dapat ditanyakan terkait Morality/Ethics adalah apakah seseorang bekerja dengan perilaku yang baik atau buruk baik terhadap rekan sesama, bawahan maupun atasannya. Leisure merupakan dimensi yang berbicara tentang bagaimana seorang pekerja dapat berperilaku secara flexible di lingkungan kerja. Flexibel dalam hal ini berkaitan erat dengan keinginan seorang pekerja untuk berkontribusi dalam kegiatan non-pekerjaan yang sifatnya dapat mencairkan suasana dalam suatu lingkungan pekerjaan, seperti perayaan ulang tahun perusahaan, sharing knowledge, dan hal lainnya. Hard Work merupakan dimensi yang berkaitan erat dengan komitmen pekerja dalam melakukan tugasnya secara sungguh-sungguh. Pekerja yang ditempatkan pada bidang yang sesuai, cenderung memiliki komitmen yang tinggi terhadap tempat ia bekerja. Dimensi Centrality of Work berbicara terkait dengan tingkat fokus yang harus dimiliki seseorang. Fokus ini tidak harus selalu urusan pekerjaan, namun ketika ada kegiatan di luar pekerjaan ia pun dapat fokus untuk berkontribusi dalam kegiatan dimaksud. Wasted Time berbicara terkait bagaimana seseorang memiliki kemampuan time management yang baik untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dalam bekerja. Seorang pekerja yang sering tidak peka terhadap waktu pengerjaan tugas, akan dipandang sebagai seseorang yang tidak mampu menyelesaikan tugas dengan baik. Sedangkan dimensi yang terakhir, yaitu Delay of Gratification atau kemampuan seorang pekerja untuk dapat menolak keuntungan pribadi demi menjaga kredibilitas tempat ia bekerja.
Ketujuh dimensi ini dapat digunakan untuk melihat sejauh mana seseorang memiliki tingkat etos kerja yang baik. Apabila ketujuh dimensi ini dimiliki oleh seorang pekerja, maka ia dapat menjadi salah seorang pekerja yang beretos kerja baik. Namun, jangan lupa juga bahwa dalam bekerja harus selalu memiliki sikap simpati dan empati serta saling menghormati dan menghargai antar sesama pekerja agar pekerjaan dan produktivitas dalam bekerja dapat maksimal.

“It takes around 24 different manufacturing steps to (make) a tennis ball, which is around five days. Then it has such a short lifespan,” Wittock told CNN in a video call from Brussels. “I was looking into tennis balls because I played tennis myself, so I know there is a lot of waste.”

Plain water is the only thing visitors are allowed to consume inside the huge cavern at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. Cheetos are a no-go, and the recent park visitor who dropped a bag full of them created a “huge impact” on the cave’s ecosystem, the park said Friday in a Facebook post.
“At the scale of human perspective, a spilled snack bag may seem trivial, but to the life of the cave it can be world changing,” the park said in its post about the garbage found off-trail in the Big Room.

“The processed corn, softened by the humidity of the cave, formed the perfect environment to host microbial life and fungi. Cave crickets, mites, spiders and flies soon organize into a temporary food web, dispersing the nutrients to the surrounding cave and formations. Molds spread higher up the nearby surfaces, fruit, die and stink. And the cycle continues.”
The park said rangers spent 20 minutes carefully removing molds and foreign debris from surfaces inside the cave, noting that while some members of the ecosystem that rose from the snacks were cave-dwellers “many of the microbial life and molds are not.”
The post called that particular impact on the cave “completely avoidable,” contrasting it with the hard-to-prevent fine trails of lint left by each visitor.
“Great or small we all leave an impact wherever we go. Let us all leave the world a better place than we found it,” the post urged park goers.
The park’s website says that eating and drinking anything other than plain water attracts animals into the cavern.
Carlsbad Caverns followed up its post about the Cheetos bag with a post about the “leave no trace” principle of disposing of waste properly.
“Contrary to popular belief, the cave is NOT a big trash can,” the post said, yet rangers pick up waste left behind every day.
“Sometimes this can be a gum wrapper or a tissue, other times it can unfortunately mean human waste, spit, or chewing tobacco.” Visitors are asked to make sure they don’t leave trash in the cavern and to use designated restrooms.

Большой интерес вызвала модель жилищных кооперативов, обходящегося без государственной поддержки и подразумевающая покупку только готового, а не строящегося жилья.
Депутат Государственной думы Олег Нилов подчеркнул, что кооперативы существовали еще в советские времена, это позитивный опыт, который нуждается в государственной поддержке — ведь это способ беспроцентной покупки объектов недвижимости вскладчину. — Опыт Германии свидетельствует о том, что он очень эффективен, — заявил депутат Государственной думы Сергей Крючек, — Там очень большой объем жилья приобретается за счет кооперативного финансирования, а не ипотеки. Это альтернативный источник финансирования решения жилищного вопроса.
Присутствовавший на круглом столе практик жилищной кооперации — председатель правления жилищного кооператива “Бест Вей” Роман Василенко подчеркнул, что возглавляемый им кооператив как раз является примером решения квартирного вопроса без государственного финансирования и при этом с минимальной переплатой.
— Квартира, приобретенная кооперативом, обойдется существенно дешевле ипотечной. Переплата, связана с внесением вступительного и членских взносов, по наиболее типичным квартирам — стоимостью 3,5-4 млн рублей, составит примерно 10-15%.
По его словам, жилищная кооперация в России имеет давнюю историю. Дореволюционная Россия была первой в мире по числу кооперативов в мире. Жилищные кооперативы были распространены и в советское время. В пореформенный период был избран американской путь — акцент на ипотеку. Но он себя не оправдал — так как ипотеку получить довольно тяжело и число нуждающихся в качественном жилье сокращается медленно.
Кооперативное же финансирование получить, наоборот, легко. Нет таких требований, как хорошая кредитная история, не требуется подтвержденный доход.
Что касается возрастных ограничений, то пайщику должно исполниться 16 лет, верхних ограничений для вступления в кооператив нет. Залоговой частью выступает сама квартира: пока пайщик полностью не рассчитается с кооперативом, она находится в собственности кооператива, то есть в собственности всех пайщиков. Как только пайщик рассчитался с кооперативом, он получает право регистрации перехода права собственности на квартиру.
— В развитии жилищных кооперативов нужно правильно расставить акценты: выбрать форму, нуждающуюся в приоритетной поддержке. Есть жилищно-строительные кооперативы — это как раз случай Су-155. И есть жилищные кооперативы. Нет рисков, характерных, например, для ЖСК — рисков того, что ликвидный объект недвижимости, гарантирующий выплату пая пайщику, который примет решение выйти из кооператива, не будет создан — потому что дом по тем или иным причинам не будет достроен.
ЖК, сказал Василенко, покупают только готовые квартиры — на первичном или вторичном рынке, с зарегистрированным правом собственности, причем, квартиры, прошедшие тщательную юридическую проверку и независимую оценку рыночной стоимости. Это наиболее безопасное вложение. Достоинство ЖК, по словам Василенко, в том, что они не привлекают кредиты и не нуждаются в госфинансировании. Они способны решить проблему доступного жилья. Sean Combs, the music mogul whose career has been upended by sexual assault lawsuits and a federal investigation, was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on Monday evening after a grand jury indicted him.
The indictment is sealed and the charges were not announced but Marc Agnifilo, a lawyer for Mr. Combs, said he believed he was being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking.

At the community clinic, Dr Pacifique Karanzo appeared fatigued and downbeat having been rushed off his feet all morning.

Why a rare image of one of Malaysia’s last tigers is giving conservationists hope

Emmanuel Rondeau has photographed tigers across Asia for the past decade, from the remotest recesses of Siberia to the pristine valleys of Bhutan. But when he set out to photograph the tigers in the ancient rainforests of Malaysia, he had his doubts.
“We were really not sure that this was going to work,” says the French wildlife photographer. That’s because the country has just 150 tigers left, hidden across tens of thousands of square kilometers of dense rainforest.

“Tiger numbers in Malaysia have been going down, down, down, at an alarming rate,” says Rondeau. In the 1950s, Malaysia had around 3,000 tigers, but a combination of habitat loss, a decline in prey, and poaching decimated the population. By 2010, there were just 500 left, according to WWF, and the number has continued to fall.
The Malayan tiger is a subspecies native to Peninsular Malaysia, and it’s the smallest of the tiger subspecies in Southeast Asia.
“We are in this moment where, if things suddenly go bad, in five years the Malayan tiger could be a figure of the past, and it goes into the history books,” Rondeau adds.
Determined not to let that happen, Rondeau joined forces with WWF-Malaysia last year to profile the elusive big cat and put a face to the nation’s conservation work.
It took 12 weeks of preparations, eight cameras, 300 pounds of equipment, five months of patient photography and countless miles trekked through the 117,500-hectare Royal Belum State Park… but finally, in November, Rondeau got the shot that he hopes can inspire the next generation of conservationists.
